MetaMask is an extension for your browser that allows you to connect with decentralized apps (dApps) on the Ethereum blockchain, while also acting as a wallet to store digital currencies. If are an alpha or first time user and have never interfaced with Ethereum before this is the first step.
While the steps provided below are for Chrome browser, a similar process can be applied to add metamask to your Firefox, Brave.
Step 1: Click here to go to the Chrome store and add the MetaMask plugin.
Step 2: Click “Add Extension” to confirm and MetaMask will be added.
Step 3: Read the privacy notice and click ‘Accept’.
Step 5: Create your password. Make sure it’s secure! & save this somewhere. Do don’t want to lose this, you’re creating wallet.
Step 6: MetaMask will now give you a ‘seed phrase’ that we advise you to keep somewhere safe where you are sure to find it (and no one else).
Step 7: Congratulations! You now have your first Ethereum account :)
You will need to buy a small amount of ETH from an Exchange such as the Independent Reserve. You will need to register and save your MetaMask address! You will need this to transfer your ETH from the Independent Reserve exchange (or another exchange) account to your MetaMask wallet. $10 - $20 AUD should be plenty:
